Submission to God
Submission to God means totally recognizing His authority and surrendering our will to His divine plan. It involves aligning our thoughts, desires, and actions with His word (teachings and guidance). It's an act of humility, trust, and obedience, acknowledging that God knows what is best for us and totally submitting ourselves to His directions. Scriptures affirm, Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). It emphasizes the importance of aligning our ways with God's will. Another scripture I would like us to explore today, let us read, 'Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name (Philippians 2:5-9). Jesus exemplified complete surrender to God; His agenda was solely focused on fulfilling God's will.
Pose this question to yourself: Are accepting the gift of salvation and complete surrender to God one and the same, or are they vastly different? Or perhaps, could they be viewed as a transformative process? Let's delve into this thought-provoking topic. while the two concepts are interconnected and can go hand in hand, they are not identical. Accepting the gift of salvation is the starting point of a relationship with God, while complete surrender to God is a deeper commitment and ongoing process of aligning one's life with His will.
Accepting the gift of salvation generally refers to the belief that eternal life is a gift from God, freely given to individuals who accept it through faith. It involves acknowledging one's need for salvation, recognizing Jesus Christ as the means of salvation, and personally accepting Him as Lord and Savior. On the other hand, completely surrendering to God implies a deeper level of commitment and submission. It means yielding all aspects of one's life to God's will and authority and relinquishing personal desires and ambitions to follow God's guidance. Surrendering to God often includes surrendering one's own will, pride, and control in order to allow God to work in and through them. While accepting the gift of salvation can be seen as an initial step in the journey of faith, complete surrender to God is an ongoing process of aligning one's life with God's purposes. It involves continuous growth, learning, and transformation as individuals strive to live in obedience to God's teachings and principles.

The initial step towards aligning yourself with God's will is expressing your wholehearted surrender and commitment to Him, declaring your willingness to follow His guidance completely. So, why is this step crucial? Well, as the Scriptures affirm, "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you" (James 4:8a). It's like a divine dance where we take the first step towards Him, and He reciprocates by drawing nearer to us. The book of Psalms beautifully captures the longing of a heart that yearns to be close to God. Let's delve into these verses: "Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!" (Psalm 139:23-24). This passage illustrates the sincere desire for God's presence, inviting Him to explore our innermost being and guide us.
Furthermore, Scripture advises us to present our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God (Romans 12:1). This act of surrender involves trusting, obeying, and relying on Him in every aspect of our lives. Obedience, in particular, holds great significance, as the Word cautions us to be doers of the Word and not mere hearers, deceiving ourselves (James 1:22). It's not enough to simply listen to His teachings; we must put them into action and live them out daily.
So, taking that first step of complete trust, obedience, and dependence on God sets the foundation for our journey of alignment with His will. It opens the door for His divine guidance, transforming our lives from mere spectators to active participants in His divine plan. Remember, it all begins with making that intentional choice to surrender and to embark on a lifelong journey of faith, walking hand in hand with our loving Father.
When you align your will with God's, the fruits of the Spirit will naturally manifest in your life, and you will experience the tangible presence of God. God's presence will bring a sense of security, fulfillment, and purpose, as you walk in step with His divine plan for your life. So, embracing alignment with God's will not only produces the fruits of the Spirit within you but also grants you the incredible privilege of experiencing the very presence of God in your daily journey.
