Why prayer is your lifeline

Why prayer is your lifeline

Let's begin by understanding what prayer is? Prayer is the act of communicating with God, establishing a connection between us and our almighty Creator. It is through prayer that we seek to receive from God. The purpose of prayer is to align ourselves with God's will. This is why we pray scripture, as it brings our prayers into agreement with His word, which reflects His will. When our prayers are aligned with God's will, they become effective. We were not created to pursue our own desires, but rather to fulfill God's will. In doing so, we receive rewards from Him. Prayer serves as a vital and essential connection or support system for an individual to reach God. Prayer is not only important but crucial for sustaining and enhancing one's spiritual well-being, personal growth, and overall life experience.
Prayer is indeed our lifeline, and here's why: Through the act of prayer, we have the ability to manifest spiritual realities from God into our physical world. It's important to remember that God is a spiritual being (John 4:24), residing in the spiritual realm. Before anything comes to pass in our world, it first takes shape in the spiritual realm. Although we cannot physically see or fully comprehend God's ways, we can only gain knowledge of what is happening in that realm through His revelations to us. In the process of prayer, God brings forth His desires from the heavenly realm and manifests them here on earth. Prayer serves as a powerful means for us to connect with God, participate in His divine purposes, and witness the fulfillment of His will in our lives and in the world around us.
Allow me to explain how prayers work. When a genuine believer in Christ, who is dedicated to doing God's will, prays, they do so in alignment with God's will. The Holy Spirit resides within them, guiding them in their prayers, and their foundation is the Word of God. The Holy Spirit is the one who grants understanding of the knowledge found in the Word of God. With this understanding, they gain the necessary tools to apply this knowledge appropriately, which we call wisdom. All of these elements are received through the act of prayer. Prayer becomes the conduit through which believers receive guidance, understanding, and wisdom from the Holy Spirit, enabling them to align their prayers with God's will and navigate their lives accordingly.
Prayer serves as the conduit through which God brings into fruition what He has established in the spiritual realm and manifests it in our physical world. This encompasses all aspects concerning us. As God has granted mankind dominion over the earth (Genesis 1:26-27), nothing can occur on earth without the permission or involvement of humanity. Therefore, God requires us, His priests, to carry out His will (1 Peter 2:5, Revelation 1:6, Isaiah 61:6). He remains faithful to His word and cannot act contrary to it. Throughout the Bible, we see that God consistently chooses to work through human beings to accomplish His great works. When God calls you for a specific purpose, He equips you with everything you need even before you accept the call. Scripture affirms this by stating that you have been blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ (Ephesians 1:3). This includes provisions for your journey. This is why the Bible instructs us to seek first the kingdom of God, assuring us that all our needs will be added unto us (Matthew 6:33). God already knows what you require, and His package of blessings encompasses your provisions as well.
The devil, aware of the power and effectiveness of prayer, actively tries to hinder it. He employs various tactics to prevent you from praying, such as distractions and deceitful whispers that prayer is ineffective. The devil, known as the father of lies, constantly distorts and perverts the truth. Deception is his primary tool, and because of our lack of knowledge and understanding of God's Word, we are vulnerable to falling for his lies. It is essential for us to seek and acquire knowledge of the truth in God's Word to guard ourselves against the devil's deceptive schemes.
The vitality of your spiritual health is reflected in your prayer life. Consistently engaging in prayer and having the desire to pray frequently are indicators of a healthy spiritual state. Conversely, if you struggle to pray or rarely engage in prayer, it is a warning sign of spiritual unhealthiness. This puts you in a vulnerable position, making you susceptible to attacks and spiritual dangers. Consider why you would not want to communicate with your Heavenly Father, whom you love, and for whom you have sacrificed your life. Such a lack of communication doesn't make sense and suggests that you may be under spiritual attack.
There is an ongoing and unceasing battle between our flesh and our spirit as stated in Galatians 5:17. There is no middle ground—it is a matter of one or the other, choosing one over the other. The role of the flesh is to defile and corrupt the spirit. Since we reside in a fallen world, our flesh aligns itself with the values and desires of the world. However, through prayer, we have the ability to engage in warfare against the flesh and bring it under the authority of Christ (Romans 13:14, Galatians 5:17).  Prayer unveils the weaknesses of our flesh and exposes its agenda to rebel against God. The flesh serves as our primary adversary in this continual struggle or war. Paul's writings in Galatians and Ephesians serve as a clear explanation and warning about the dangers posed by the flesh and why we should pray without ceasing.
Prayer serves as a potent weapon to dismantle the works of the flesh that oppose the spirit, and a catalyst that activates the word of God already residing within us, bringing it to life. When the spirit triumphs through prayer, it activates the transformative process, renewing the mind. Prayer allows us to put into action the knowledge and understanding we have gained from reading the Bible. For believers who neglect to read the Bible, they find themselves in a precarious situation, as their understanding and knowledge of God's word become limited. Therefore, it is crucial to prioritize regular Bible reading, as the Holy Spirit utilizes what is stored within to provide us with revelation. Additionally, diligent study is essential to deepen our understanding and equip us to effectively apply the truths we have acquired through prayer.
Your prayer life is indeed your lifeline. When referring to your prayer life, it encompasses aligning your life with God's will and consistently praying according to His guidance. This practice ensures that you are on the right path and will never go astray. Your prayer life serves as a reflection of the state of your overall life. It reveals the level of intimacy, connection, and alignment you have with God, providing insight into your spiritual well-being and the course of your journey. The fruits you bear are a direct reflection of your prayer life, which encompasses both prayer and the reading of God's Word (Bible).

Cultivating a prayer life is of paramount importance for your spiritual journey, particularly in a fast-paced society where allocating exclusive time for prayer can be challenging. The solution is clear: "Simply Prayer for Our Daily Journey," a scripture-enriched prayer book designed for all aspects of life. Additionally, pair it with a Faith-building scripture book to assist you in persevering through the waiting time on God’s promises and strengthening your faith. However, it's essential to note that this prayer book doesn't replace genuine, quality time with God; you must spend dedicated time with Him.
