To discover God's treasure, you must search for it; this treasure is the mystery of God's kingdom
The Scriptures affirm, "The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy, he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field" (Matthew 13:44). The concept is reiterated: The kingdom of God remains a mystery, revealed only to those who search for it diligently. When it's revealed, it becomes a valuable treasure. It holds the answers to understanding how to receive God's promises and gaining the knowledge to walk in the authority of Christ Jesus in our lives. That is why the scripture says, "If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God" (Proverbs 2:4-5) because it is indeed a priceless treasure. Understanding the treasure-like mystery of God's kingdom starts with grasping the importance of fearing the Lord. To truly understand this fear, you need to explore His Word and connect with Him, which you achieve through reading the Bible and praying. As your knowledge and understanding of God increase, you transform into a treasure contained within a humble vessel, because God's power becomes evident in you and His kingdom shines through you. The scripture affirms this concept: "But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair."(2 Corinthians 4:7-8).
Paul's ultimate goal in Colossians 2:1-3 is for believers to attain a profound and unshakable assurance of understanding. He desires us to acquire insight into the mystery of God, encompassing both the Father and Christ. This 'mystery' pertains to the divine plan of salvation through Christ, which was previously concealed but is now being unveiled to those who earnestly seek it. The central idea centers around the fact that in Christ, all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden, accessible through a genuine relationship with Him, as scriptures affirm, 'In whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge' (Colossians 2:3).
In order to recognize a treasure, you must understand its value. The kingdom of God is such a treasure, which is why we all accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. This choice places us under His protection and enables us to benefit from His blessings, excelling in all areas of our life. Jesus holds the key to knowledge and understanding. These mysteries aren't openly revealed to everyone, but rather to those who actively seek them. That's why you'll come across phrases like "He who has ears, let him hear" in scriptures (Matthew 11:15, Mark 4:23, Revelation 2:7). This saying emphasizes that not every believer comprehends the mysteries of God's kingdom. The blessings of the kingdom of God aren't automatically granted when we accept Christ; instead, we need to engage in aligning with God's principles to activate these blessings in our lives. If it were otherwise, every believer would be immune to sickness, poverty, premature death, negative circumstances, etc.
That's why the scripture warns us in Proverbs 7:1: 'My son, keep my words, And treasure my commands within you.' This is because understanding the word of God is the key to success in life. This understanding isn't available to everyone, but only to those who search for it like a treasure. This mystery holds the solution to our lives.
Now that you've arrived at the understanding of pursuing God and seeking to comprehend His kingdom, as you remain in Him and He in you, He will start unveiling Himself to you. He will grant you the ability to hear and see, enlightening the eyes of your understanding. The Holy Spirit will become your closest companion, shedding light on your spiritual journey to fulfill your purpose on Earth by aligning with God's will.
When you reach maturity in your journey with Christ and have fully embraced God as your Father, relying completely on Him, you transform into a skillful soldier for God. This comes with an understanding of the kingdom of God and the ability to exercise your authority, as Scripture confirms. As it's said, "Then He said to them, 'Therefore every scribe instructed concerning the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure things new and old' (Matthew 13:52). With these tools, you can access the blessings that were your inheritance from the outset and experience a life of liberty.
Seeking the kingdom of God is like finding a hidden treasure, realizing it's the ultimate jackpot, and then proudly becoming a card-carrying member. Pursue God; I assure you, you won't regret it.
