God hears you when you cry out to Him from your heart.
Let me begin with my personal testimony. I once found myself in a situation where it seemed as though the walls were closing in on me. I felt overwhelmed by everything that was happening around me, to the point where I could barely find the strength to pray. I was mentally stressed and physically exhausted, and when I assessed the situation, it appeared bleak from every angle. I endured this state for about half a day, reaching towards midnight. I went to bed with a mind filled with turmoil, devoid of peace, feeling fearful, and I prayed my usual prayers with only a fraction of my usual intensity as my focus was greatly hindered.
The next morning, I woke up with the same heavy feelings, and the situation remained unchanged. However, at 3 a.m., I decided to participate in a group prayer for about an hour. The environment I was in at the time made it difficult for me to pray effectively, so I began doing some household chores while still attempting to communicate with God about my situation. Unfortunately, I was struggling to find the words and my prayers weren't flowing as usual.
I distinctly remember saying to God, "I don't want to sin against you, I don't want to compromise my integrity. I just want to get out of this situation. I just want to go home. Lord, please help me!
I ventured outside to get some fresh air and decided to take a longer walk. Along the way, I came across a gated area designated for dogs to roam and play freely. I noticed there was a bench there, unoccupied by anyone. I made my way to the bench and sat down for a moment. It was in this serene spot that I began to speak to God from the depths of my heart.
I said to God, "I don't understand why this is happening to me. According to your word, I know that all things work together for my good because I love you and I am called by you. You make all things beautiful in your own time, though I don't know the beginning from the end. At the end of the day, it will work out for my good because you are a good God and a good Father. I trust that you will not give me more than I can handle.
Father, I confess I can't pray, I can't focus. Please forgive me for any sins I have knowingly or unknowingly committed, especially in this situation. Please give me the grace not to act unwisely. I don't want to sin against you and be defeated in the end. Lord, I want to go through this with my integrity intact. Your blessings add no sorrow, and I believe that all things, good, bad, or ugly, will ultimately work out for me. Help me, Father. Get me out of this situation unharmed.
As I continued to remind God of His word and His promises toward me, praying scriptures, I began to feel better. I proceeded to declare and decree God's word over my situation and concluded with thanksgiving. After pouring my heart out in tears, I returned inside. Believe it or not, in less than 4 hours, God orchestrated a way out for me and enveloped me with His favor throughout the journey back home. Everyone I encountered along the way unknowingly contributed to my well-being.
The situation wasn't entirely resolved, but I lived to fight another day, and my integrity remained intact. I didn't bring disgrace to God's name; He fought on my behalf. Scriptures says, " Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place. No evil shall befall you because He has set His love upon Me; therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life, I will satisfy him and show him My salvation." (Psalms 91:9-10, 14-16). Another scripture states, "They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you. For I am with you," says the Lord, "to deliver you (Jeremiah 1:19). His word affirms, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil (Psalm 23:4)
Scriptures say the righteous will never be shaken in good, bad, or ugly. When you make God your safe haven and cry out to Him in times of trouble, He will deliver you. By acknowledging Him as the only one who can provide help and repent of your sins, He will come to your aid. I have numerous testimonies from my past when I was living a wayward life and found myself in difficult situations, and God delivered me. I would thank Him but then return to my old ways. God's mercy is boundless, and His loving kindness surpasses the value of life itself. Indeed, God is love.
This testimony is meant to encourage someone out there to trust God for deliverance. Even if you find yourself on the wrong side of God, once you acknowledge Him, He will come to your aid because He loves you. Having knowledge of God's Word is immensely helpful in times of trouble. Learn to study God's Word for yourself; don't rely solely on others for His teachings. There may come a day when you'll need to encourage yourself through God's Word. Be assured, that God is always with you; just call out to Him.
